Course Description ‒ Tokyo Prefecture Adachi Japanese School ALCC Tokyo College

Course introduction

ALCC Tokyo College has the course plan, process and achievements, by which, it can cope with all situations flexibly even in the continuously changing social needs or conditions, and has imported evaluation system in a balance. We do not evaluate Japanese ability merely, but also evaluate others and have set up evaluation standards, for example, propose tasks within the regulated time, etc., automaticity during study process.

About course guidance and level

★ It’s only for reference. Our college will carry out adjustment of some contents correspondingly according to the demands or ability of students at the current stage.

Primary level

Level introduction

Study the Japanese at introduction level to lay essential Japanese foundation for the students to realize future goals.
They’re closely related to intermediate-level and advanced-level Japanese study.
The goal of Japanese study is to reach Japanese ability examination N4 level within half a year.

Subject Content
(1)Reading Read comprehensive textbooks and topics related to daily life or Japanese culture & habits to master the basic ability of reading.
(2)Grammar Carry out accumulation from the basic grammar used on comprehensive textbooks. To enable the students to apply the contents learned by them to daily life, the teacher will set scenes to import the teaching. Through regular quiz or proposal of tasks, the students can study autonomously & regularly.
(3)Character ・ Vocabulary Provide guidance in hiragana & katakana writing method. Study of Chinese characters will be carried out from primary stage, and reading & writing will also be learnt.
At that time, the teacher will supplement necessary language according to drawing textbooks or topic scenes so that students can master vocabulary.
(4)Listening It’s the direct teaching method which can enhance students’ comprehensive ability naturally by listening to teacher’s teaching, or make students listen to local people to carry out listening & writing, or carry out listening practice by using listening textbook to improve students’ listening level.
(5)Conversation Employ conversation practice with others consciously. It’s not for the purpose of making students carry out smooth conversation merely, but enabling the students to feel the joy of cooperation. Besides, activity contents will also be diversified.
(6)Composition Carry out Japanese writing practice with some topics in daily life. For example, try writing diaries to record events happening in daily life or recent situations or letters of thanks expressing the emotion of gratitude at ordinary days, etc.

Intermediate level

Level introduction

 

It’s the level with students having finished primary-level courses as the objects and the goal is that students can have the ability of carrying out Japanese conversation freely.
As the transition stage for studying advanced-level courses, practice of reading long articles or writing summative articles will be carried out.
The goal of Japanese study is to reach Japanese ability examination N2 level within half a year.

 

Subject Content
(1)Reading The goal is that students can understand slightly difficult Japanese article structure & grammar structure, and can read and comprehend summative articles. Reading themes can also be extended to social contents from trifles. In addition, practice of fast reading will also be carried out.
(2)Grammar Study sentence pattern & manifestation mode used in Japanese ability examination N3 & N2 and using methods. The purpose is to combine what’s learnt with speaking, listening, reading & writing skills in daily life for use.
(3)Character ・ Vocabulary Increase the quantity of Chinese characters and vocabularies which can be understood, and master wider & more appropriate language using & presentation mode.
(4)Listening The goal is that it’s expected to enhance students’ comprehension of Japanese presentation mode with more natural conservation forms, and that students can concentrate on crucial points after listening to teaching materials or descriptive summative conservations, so as to understand general contents.
(5)Conversation Train the students’ description ability of proposing their own views & reasons for some matters happening in daily life & social topics, and their expression ability of using appropriate language according to specific occasion.
(6)Composition Train the students to comprehend article structure and use appropriate conjunctions to write relatively complex summative short articles. The goal is that students can write opinion articles or thought articles and descriptive articles with about 400-600 words.

Advanced level

Level introduction

 

It considers the students who have finished the study of intermediate-level courses and want to improve their Japanese application ability further as the objects of this level.
While carrying out practice of Japanese ability examination N1, examination for Japanese university admission, BJT and other appraisal examinations appropriately in combination with students’ objectives, enable the students to have the Japanese application ability complying with the advanced level and independent personality traits required by international society.

 

Subject Content
(1)Reading Enjoy the joy of reading and experience rich Japanese presentation modes by reading newspapers or novels, seasonal topics perceptive by Japanese culture, etc., so as to improve the reading ability. As to the students with further study as the goal, we’ll also carry out reading & comprehension of argumentations.
(2)Grammar While learning the grammar of Japanese ability examination N1 level, we’ll consider Japanese comprehensive ability related to advanced level—super level as the goal. In addition, students will also study how to use in different occasions to improve their Japanese application ability.
(3)Character ・ Vocabulary Study the vocabularies & Chinese characters of Japanese ability examination N1 level. The students will not only recite words, but also apply them to compositions & conversations to improve their language application ability, and they can also keep them in mind.
(4)Listening Train students to get used to relatively natural expressions or wordings of local people so that students can understand Japanese correctly without any error. At that time, we’ll provide listening practice of conversations in business scenes and listening practice of other more scenes.
(5)Conversation Both the talking party and listening party shall learn how to propose their own opinions or thoughts while considering the feelings of the other party, and deliver such opinions or thoughts to the other party completely.
In addition, students shall also master the unique presentation mode, conversational mode, etc. of Japanese so that they can carry out conversation more naturally. And they can also carry out interview practice appropriately.
(6)Composition Study the writing of short essay or report for higher school entrance examination, writing method of business mail, etc., and when meeting various topics & formats during higher school entrance examination and work in Japan in future, the students can use different languages and presentation modes to write.

The 6th day・7th day The designated days for October students’ access to the country (new students shall go to Haneda Airport by air at the current day and the college will be responsible for reception.)

The 28th day Traffic safety lecture (it’s predicted that we’ll invite personnel in police department to provide traffic safety lecture and interpreters will be arranged)
